Safe Haven

During Christmas week, our church provides shelter and food to homeless men. A network of churches work together to keep these men safe throughout the winter months.

Souper Bowl of Caring

This is a Church World Service fundraiser that occurs on the National Football League’s “Super Bowl Sunday”. The children of the congregation collect monetary donations during the weeks preceding the event and non-perishable food donations are collected on the day of the big game. All funds and food collected are used to ease hunger in our area. Coordinated by our Board of Missions.

Empty Bowls Project

The Greenbelt Community Church in cooperation with the Greenbelt Pottery, Inc., raises money to support Help By Phone through an extraordinary event called Empty Bowls. Potters create original ceramic bowls, and we serve a meal of soup and bread.

Christmas in April

On Christmas in April, volunteers bring the gift of restoring houses to residents who are unable to care for them. Many of these houses have fallen on hard times and repairs can be quite extensive. Join us and share the company of many of our dedicated church members. We need all level of workers and will provide directions and other details.

The Christmas Project

Over the years, our church has brightened Christmas for thousands of families in Prince George’s County who otherwise would usually have nothing. "The Christmas Project" adopts entire families, children and adults, for the holidays. Beginning in late November, we'll have cards with the first name and age of each of the families’ members. You'll be able to choose as many cards as you wish, shop for those people, wrap the gifts, attach the cards, and bring them to the church by mid Dec. Gifts must be new. This is a more personal and reliable system for sharing Christmas with people who are genuinely in need. It wouldn't be Christmas if we didn't share the joy!

Community Café

On the fifth Monday of every month, our church provides soup and sandwiches to another local church who offers meals to those in need in our area. The sandwiches are made after service on the preceding Sunday by volunteers in the congregation. The foods are delivered to the church and volunteers stay to serve and converse with the participants.
