CROP Walk 2018

Annual Yard Sale and Bake Sale

This is a fundraiser to benefit our church and youth group.  The sale usually occurs on a Saturday in mid- April.  It's a great event to recycle serviceable, but no longer needed, household items. The youth group makes and sells hoagies to raise funds for their mission trip

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Our version Mardi Gras, this event is held on the evening before Lent begins. Volunteers cook and serve pancakes, sausage, and baked apples to anyone who comes to eat. There is no fee, but a free-will offering is received to assist local people in need of food and medicine. All are invited. It is one of the ways that the church reaches out to the wider community while sharing the fellowship of a meal with each other. It's a great way to meet new folks and dine with old friends.

Christian Education Recognition Sunday

A thank-you to everyone who helps to bring quality programs to our Sunday School students.

Baysox Baseball Outing

Each Summer, members and friends of the church congregate at the Bowie Baysox stadium in Bowie for an evening of fellowship and fun. The evening starts with a tailgating party where a feast is provided, augmented with a potluck smorgasbord of salads, fruits, snacks and deserts. At game time, we pick a central location where everyone can root for the team of their choice, enjoy each other’s company, and perhaps snag a foul ball or a tee shirt. For several years this outing has been especially enjoyable since the Church Choir, along with members from the congregation and the Children's Choir, have presented our National Anthem at the start of the game. Frequently, the stadium has a fireworks display at the end of the game. The Adult Fellowship Baseball Outing is sponsored by the Board of Congregational Life who encourages you to bring the kids and make it a family night.

The City of Greenbelt hosts a four-day festival over Labor Day Weekend with stage events, art and photo shows and booths to raise funds for various community groups. The Labor Day parade travels up Crescent Road at 10:00 AM right past the church. Immediately following the parade, the church sets up tables and chairs on its lawn and serves a luncheon consisting of home- made beef barbecue, hot dogs, baked beans, cole slaw, potato chips, home-made desserts and cold drinks. Fifteen percent of funds raised goes to the Labor Day Committee and the remainder is collected by the church as one of its annual fundraisers. It's good eating and great relaxation, and generally draws people from all over town.

Fall Bazaar & Auction

Every November, the Church holds its biggest fundraiser of the year. It is a one-day display and sale of items in five main areas:

  • Christmas Table, with holiday decorations, ornaments, home decor, and Christmas items.
  • Country Cupboard, featuring crafts, Christmas clothing, baby or children's items, knitted/crocheted items, cross-stitch, jewelry, wooden items, toys, herbs, and canned items (jellies, relishes, sauces)
  • SERVV or "Greater Gift". The church provides an outlet for jewelry, gourmet foods, baskets and folk art at fair market prices. Profits go back to the artists, farmers and craftsmen.
  • Bake Sale, lots and lots of baked goods: cakes, pies, brownies, cookies, and buns.
  • Live Auction, this grand attraction of the day is the selling to the highest bidder of donated goods and services.
The Youth Group serves food throughout the day to help support their mission trip.
